People listen to people they've connected with. I won't hide in a green room and only pop my head out when it's time to speak. I'll get to know your students, by name, and I'll hang out with your group outside of speaking sessions.
I'm kind of an ADD bunny. So I understand what it takes to keep students engaged. I'll use stories, multimedia, crowd interaction and my sensational beard to captivate listeners. Oh, and humor. Also humor.
I've been a Youth Pastor, and I get it. You can bring in a speaker that's engaging and effective, but once he's gone, YOU guys are the ones on the ground growing these kids. I'll set your leaders up as Secondary Heroes. The primary hero, of course...
It all comes down to this: Discipleship is only possible if we experience intimacy with Jesus. No program, no speaker, no event will foster long-lasting commitment to Jesus unless He is at the very center of it. My goal in ministry is to shepherd your students toward a meaningful experience with the King of the Universe.
